Welcome to the Freedom of Thought report website

The International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU) is pleased to launch freethoughtreport.com today, 14 August 2013.

Freethoughtreport.com is a hub for information and collaboration on the international Freedom of Thought report published by IHEU.

The Freedom of Thought report itself, which launched last December to mark Human Rights Day, focuses on “discrimination against Humanists, atheists and the non-religious”. The report will be updated with new editions on an annual basis.

For 2013 we’re inviting all IHEU Member Organizations and other experts to help create an expanded Freedom of Thought report with even wider, richer coverage of persecution and discrimination against the non-religious.

Freethoughtreport.com explains what the Freedom of Thought report is, provides ‘freedom of religion or belief’ links and resources and detailed information on complaints procedures for individuals being persecuted for their religion or belief. In addition there is a page on how to submit new information for the report with a webform to guide experts through the process of making a submission.

IHEU’s own news feed covers campaigns and policy work ranging over many areas of importance to Humanist, atheist and non-religious people in general.

In this freethoughtreport.com blog we’ll be focusing specifically on the Freedom of Thought report, covering news on the development and publication of the report, the contributions of groups and experts, updates on the discriminatory laws and individuals cases featured in the report, and ‘freedom of religion or belief’ issues which may directly impact the content of future editions of the report.

We’re looking forward to working with IHEU Members and other experts on developing the 2013 report for the sake of the many non-religious people around the world forced into hiding their views or facing overt discrimination our outright persecution.
